CONTENT ANALYSIS

The simple present is a verb tense with two main uses. Simple present tense is used when an action is happening right now, or when it happens regularly (or unceasingly, which is why it’s sometimes called present indefinite). Depending on the person, the simple present tense is formed by using the root form or by adding s or es to the end.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

The learner,

·        identifies different situations where simple tense is used

·        applies the subject-verb agreement rule to sentences in simple present tense.

·        learns to use simple present tense confidently in writing and communication.

PRE - REQUISITES

The learner;

·        knows about tenses.

·        knows about verbs.

 

TEACHING-LEARNING PROCEDURES	LEARNERS’ RESPONSE
Rapid Rapport The teacher initiates an informal interaction and creates a rapport with the learners.	Learners become lively.
Entry exercise The teacher gives an activity where the learners are supposed to identify some verbs from a word search puzzle.	Learners respond actively.
Gain from a glimpse The teacher plays a video and asks the learners to watch it carefully so that they notice some words which are specified.	Learners listen to the video and teacher carefully.
QnA to learn The teacher asks the learners about their daily routine ·        What do you do in the morning? ·        What do you do in the afternoon? Evening? ·        Do you repeatedly do these actions?	Learners answer enthusiastically.

 

Time to check The teacher asks some questions to the learners. Tr: Did you notice the usage of a tense form in the activities we did?  Tr: Do you know how it helps us? Tr: What are its functions ? Tr: Do you know what do we call them? The teacher condenses the ideas. The simple present tense is used in a sentence to represent an action or event that takes place or just happened in the given context at the present moment. It has other uses too, like to it talks about unchanging situations, facts, and planned events in the near future.
